Tim R. Karstetter has recently been involved in a number of litigation matters. He has successfully represented an owner and director of a corporation in a suit brought by the corporation against our client, alleging theft of corporate equipment and sale of equipment by the client, with an allegation that our client failed to account to the corporation with the proceeds of the sale. The claim against our client was approximately $380,000.00. After extensive discovery, Tim was able to obtain an order of summary judgment in our client's favor.
Tim also obtained an acquittal in a jury trial in which our client was charged with aggravated battery. Our client was a registered nurse who would have lost her nursing license, had she been convicted.
Tim also represented a young woman recently, who was charged with 3 felony counts of forgery. She was acquitted by a jury.
He represented a young man who, we felt, was wrongfully charged with rape. Our client was adamant that no rape had occurred and the evidence we developed also lead to that conclusion. After a thorough investigation of the matter with numerous witnesses and a preliminary hearing, the case against our client was dismissed.
In his most recent trials, Tim obtained acquittals for individuals charged with a felony drug offense and domestic battery.
As is the case in many courts, the docket in the District Court of McPherson County, Kansas, is extremely congested. Tim organized a program whereby he and 5 other local attorneys serve 2 hours per month as pro tem judges. This frees up the District Judges, somewhat, and generally allows them to move other cases more rapidly through the system.
Tim has recently served as President of the McPherson College Athletic Booster Club.
John recently been elected to the Board of Directors of the McPherson Industrial Development Co., Inc. This company promotes the economic development of McPherson.
John has become the attorney for McPherson Unified School District 418, Goessel Unified School District 411, Centre Unified School District 397, and the McPherson County Special Education Cooperative.
Tim has been elected to the Board of CASA, A Voice for Children, Inc. The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) provides a representative for children in child in need of care cases to speak for the child and to advocate for the best interest of the child. Tim has also become the City Attorney for the City of Canton, Kansas.
